Day 4, Aug 19: COLOR WARS!
“Today was color wars! We were divided into teams like purple team, blue team, pink team, green and yellow team. Each team read clues that directed them to different parts of the campsite for games, like wet boy which is another version of hangman. In “Wet Boy, a member of the team was "hangman" and one member had a pail of water. Each time the team got a wrong letter the pail of water inched closer and closer until the wet boy got drenched, but they didn't mind because it was so hot! Another game was called “Cake Head,” where we decorated our friend's Mike's bald head with frosting and toppings. We were given water guns for mercifully or unmercifully rinsing his head off. Shirley, Kara, Sue, Stella Gabby and I (Nancy) were the purple team and we won Color Wars! After doing the color war, we had a cookout. Then, we sat around the fire ring. A local percussionist came by with all of his drums and led us in songs and rhythms.
We discussed names for our new project.
My name suggestion was Mizen.
My zen because I feel zen when I look at views and at my friends. I just know that this is a love filled and fun filled place, where there's no mistakes and nothing is weird.
"Mi" is spanish is for my.
And zen is zen.”

“Our friend Otha graced us with his presence and his impressive drum collection. He guided us through a drum session with different beats and songs, including: Olé Olé, La Bamba, and a song about a lava sunrise bird. The drum circle led us to feel a sense of wonder and gratification through music and expression. The melodic undertones had us feeling euphoric while we were in sync in a spiritual moment, something we will always remember. “

“We had a Color Wars competition amongst the cabins where the groups did different activities and competed as a team. Games included cake head, TP toss, descriptive building, hang man and the floor is lava. The judges watched and ranked teams based on teamwork, efficiency, creativity and last but not least, spirit. Ultimately the purple team came out on top as overall best in class and Shirley was nominated to wear the honorary trophy necklace. We all had fun exploring new friendships and tackling challenges as a team. Discussion about names for the camp was also a part of the challenge and updates will follow soon!”
