Day 3, Aug 18: ZIPPITY DOO DA ACTIVITY DAY

This morning we woke up bright and early for breakfast. After eating cereal and fruit, we loaded our extensive fleet of vehicles and journeyed across bucolic pastures, along rocky creeks and through lush forests to our final destination: North Adams Massachusetts. We descended upon MassMoca (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) for a morning full of culture and art! Some of us took a guided tour where we viewed the works of different modern artists and even got to make some art ourselves! Some people’s favorite part, and other’s worst nightmare, was the home-made instrument room! Cacophony!

We wrapped up our time at the museum with pizza outside, along the river. Then our fleet re-engaged for a short drive to the local bowling alley. We had the whole place to ourselves for bowling, snacking and, of course, dancing!

When we got back to camp we were all very tired. After some rest, we met in the dining hall for dinner followed by singing, dancing, and storytelling. Sue Harrington sang a beautiful rendition of “Hopelessly Devoted” to honor the late, Olivia Newton John. After a long and fun-filled day, with our bellies and hearts full, we turned into our cabins early for some much needed rest before tomorrow’s activity…Color Wars!
