Our Mission

Our mission is to create a community of friends who celebrate diversity and foster inclusion, independence and equity.

Each August, the Ashmere Project provides a residential retreat for approximately 100 adults with and without disability.

Our Berkshire retreat is located on Lake Ashmere, amidst winding roads, mountaintops, herds of cattle, and rich art and culture.

RADICAL ACCESSABILITY

The members of this community provide support to one another, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and/or disability while empowering each other and the entire group.

EVERYONE HAS VALUE

No one in this community is replaceable and everyone brings their own strengths and weaknesses to the table, as personal growth, relationships and the feeling of belonging are of the utmost importance to the human experience.

FOR AND BY THE COMMUNITY

Our inaugural summer was spent exploring this exciting project. As the years go by, we will grow and develop; decisions will be made by all members of the community, regardless of ability/disability, and leadership roles will be open to anyone and made accessible to everyone.
