Day 6, Aug 21: IN THE GROOVE
Today was the first day of music for the play! After breakfast (thanks for the donuts Sam, Sam, and Jo Jo), we gathered in the chapel with Mike and listened to the songs that would eventually be featured in our performance. Per camp song tradition, we first went through each number with an emphatic read through/call-and-response, before then adding in the melody, and ultimately singing our hearts out. A little dancing may have taken place as well… We couldn’t sing all day though, as a new group of friends was joining us for the second half of the session and the cabins needed a good cleaning. Everyone worked up an appetite cleaning, but none worked harder than the gentlemen in the Nook cabin, to which Jo Jo granted the award for tidiest cabin. Lunch was followed by time down at the lake, and everyone enjoyed a lake side snooze or a dip in the water. Some swam, some kayaked, paddle boarded, or just floated around in tubes, but fun was had by all! We then put on our evening outing attire, ate dinner, and headed into Pittsfield for a local performance of “A Comedy of Errors” in the park. The Shakespeare crew put on an awesome show, and while the play may have been super confusing, everyone had a wonderful time. We will definitely be going back for next years production! A pit stop for ice cream on the way home capped a lovely day, as described by Nancy:
“Izzo, Gabby, Arielle and I (Nancy) made a little detour to get an ice cream cone before heading back to camp. Izzo found an ice cream place was called “King Kone” in Pittsfield. Izzo asked, “who’s up for an ice cream cone?”, and all of us said “yes”! When izzo came out with these ice cream cones our jaws dropped wide open. We heckled each other about who could eat it all. None of us could finish it. The picture(s) below is proof of the size of the cone.”
