Day 2, August 14: Team Spirit
This morning we awoke with a start, as some mystical fairy that resembled Jojo appeared in our cabins with a booming spirit! Special shout out to the Den who embraced the day instantly and was already singing and dancing to Taylor Swift at eight in the morning. After breakfast we had several activities. Samara led yoga, and at the end of the class, we created a yoga sequence and everyone contributed a pose to the series. We somehow managed to find our zen even despite the fun music coming from the art cabin. Some of us chose to make art with Stella, and worked with paints, markers and ink to create! On the other side of the yoga circle, some of us gathered around the picnic table and sang along as Huck played songs on the guitar. We all took turns requesting songs, and jammed to classics like “Build Me Up Buttercup” and ABBA.
We had a delicious lunch and then headed to our cabins to rest for a bit. Then we grabbed our swimsuits and raced to the field for Water Wars! We were divided up into teams and each competed in 4 different activities trying to earn as many points as possible. We had a western-style water gun fight, an obstacle course as we carried pitchers of water, a float race, and of course a part where we each had to drink cups of water. Hydration here is essential! Ultimately team “Jamie’s Birthday” took the crown, but it was a tight race.
After showering, we came together for a cookout at the picnic tables. We ate birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to Jamie and enjoyed the beautiful sunset over the lake. It was a peaceful, but as the sun set, we brought back the competitive spirit from earlier for challenge night! We had dance-offs, a hot sauce drinking contest, a wrestling match-up and more. We even finished it off with a prom-posal which is taking place later this week! It was a big day, and we are off to bed, ready for all the fun tomorrow!
All the love, Ashmere
