Day 9, August 21: Dividing and Conquering the World (well more like Hinsdale Massachusetts)!

We ate waffles for breakfast, so you could say we had a great morning! We swept up after eating to quickly transform the dining hall into music practice. We have officially started rehearsing for the play! Exciting things to come!

After rehearsal, we split up into different activities. Jojo hosted her annual empanada-making class, and taught us how to fill the dough with cheese or meat then crimp the edges. We sorted them according to their filling, and are so excited to eat them for lunch tomorrow! Others of us did meditation on the lawn with Ben W. He led breathing exercises and all of us left feeling very relaxed and rested. The rest of us danced on the basketball courts with Izzo leading dance exercises. There was a different song for each part of the body to exercise to, it was a very creative way for us to get a good workout.

Then we ate tasty chicken caesar wraps for lunch and rested in our cabins while we digested. Next, each cabin took a different trip for special bonding time! The Den went to Full Well Farm in Adams, MA. The farm is co-owned by Laura Tupper-Palches, so Jake Palches, the Den and David went to visit her and create flower crowns. Laura gathered an assortment  of her gorgeous flowers for us and we had the most wonderful time both creating and wearing our crowns.

The Nook went to the bowling alley, and reported the Sam Wood was an unstoppable force. He won the friendly competition with spare after spare. Cliffside went to the Mass Audubon's Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. They were able to get up close to the nature and spot lots of frogs and birds because the sanctuary was so accessible. Unfortunately, they were not able to complete their quest of spotting a beaver, but they had fun trying.

Last but not least, Shorepoint visited the Three Sisters Sanctuary. It was a place where “nature meets art,” and was full of outdoor sculptures and installations. It started raining towards the end of the trips, and each cabin respectively had to hurry off. Rumor had it, Shorepoint literally ran away, too funny!

We showered and got all ready for dinner, then congregated back in the dining hall. We had cowgirl casserole served with tasty tortillas, it was phenomenal. During dinner, we called up representatives from each cabin to give a synopsis of their respective trip. It was great to hear all the stories from the day’s adventures. Then we all voted on what we should do this evening and because it was a pretty even split, some people headed for the bonfire and others opted to watch the new live-action Little Mermaid. It was a great day to have a great day! We are off to dream of sweet things, like tomorrow’s empanadas!

All the love, Ashmere
