Day 6, August 18: C’mon Barbie let’s go party!

We woke up on the earlier side this morning, so we could eat as much breakfast as possible and make a morning showing at the Pittsfield cinema. Even though we had breakfast less than an hour before, we all made sure to get bags of freshly-made movie theatre popcorn. The theatre had the plush reclining chairs with seat heaters, it was luxurious. We dressed in as much pink as possible and saw the new movie, Barbie! We all laughed, some cried, and some people fell victim to the glorious chairs and fell asleep. It was a great morning.

As a treat for winning the cabin inspection, the Den and the Nook went out for a celebratory lunch. The rest of the crew headed back to camp. It was blue skies as we left the theaters, so after we devoured our BLTs, we spent time by the lake and around camp enjoying each other’s company.

We set up a makeshift party attire closet and everyone went shopping for outfits to wear to the evening’s Gala! We spent the late afternoon showering and getting gussied up. Some chose formal wear, and others of us went for more of a Halloween vibe. All outfits were the perfect outfit. As it turned into evening, we met on the patio for a cocktail hour. We had sodas and fruit punch and some wine or beer for those over 21. It was so fun to see everyone looking so sharp!

We had the most amazing dinner in our transformed dining hall, complete with waiters and flowers and the whole 9 yards. We passed each other compliments on construction paper as we went through our different courses. We ate salad first, then lasagna and garlic bread, and finished the meal with ice cream! Then we had an ultimate dance party, with glow sticks and all the best music. We would have made Barbie proud of how we “danced the night away.” Off to bed for now!

All the love, Ashmere
